Bob Clift Memorial Cheshire Cycleway Rides.

In 1985, a rider in the club devised a round-Cheshire cycle route, one of (if not the very first) of its kind in the country. This was Bob Clift, who rode with Chester Section.  In 1986 he was persuaded to run the first Cheshire Cycleway event - in those days there were 100k and 200k options.

Bob sadly passed away in the early 1990's, and his wife, Dorothy, organised them until 2012.  She has also passed away now (in 2013).  Their son, Steven, can often still be seen helping out with organising, which is fabulous.

Now known as National Cycle Route 70, it has been extended to include Parkgate (essential for an ice cream stop!), making it 176mile/282km in total.

These days the event is usually organised in June, and comprises of a 25, 50, and 100 mile routes.  It is signposted all the way around, but the rides may take bits out (depending on refreshments stops), so you get a route sheet and GPS routes are usually available.
